They also provide improved acoustic and maximum thermal insulation.Although a new concept in Sri Lanka, clay hollow bricks have been in use by the construction industry in Southern India and the Mediterranean region for over a decade.As clay retains its inherent strength and durability, it has made clay the building material of choice over centuries. Clay bricks and roofing tiles signify particularly green building materials consisting of natural raw materials of clay and water.Clay is a material that can be used in order to reduce the carbon footprint; it is produced locally, ideally suits the local climate and does not contain harmful chemicals. Since it is sourced from the earth, it can be re-used or returned to the soil when the building is no longer in use.
